Snow

Hey everyone! I hope you have had a great week. As for me it has been dumping snow this week!!

So this week we have found a lot of new people and have been super busy. We are still teaching Hampus and he is doing awesome!! We gave him a "Preach My Gospel" this past week. Speaking of him... so on Saturday we are in a lesson and the phone starts buzzing in my pocket... I look at it really quick and I see the area code 801... My first thought was... "oh, no... it's the church office calling me with some tragic news..." After our lesson I hurry and called back and turns out it was the church headquarters, but then the girl on the other side of the line started speaking Swedish. Haha it ended up just being a sister missionary from Salt Lake who has taught Hampus over the phone and wanted to see how things are going on our end.

On Wednesday we went over to Lynette's who is an inactive member from the U.S., who is married to a Swede. It was a lot of fun... After dinner she taught us how to make cakes and we each made our own. (pictures attached)

Thursday was fun! We went out by some potential investigators (who are Jehovah's Witnesses :)) I am sure you can only imagine how that went. I have to say, we did a pretty good job keeping up with them on their bible skills and are returning next week. After that we went tracting and we knocked on this door and they let us in! It was a couple from Turkey and their two daughters. They are strong orthodox Christians. We tried to teach the Restoration, but got a little stuck on teaching our beliefs that God and Jesus Christ are separate beings, since they believe contrary. There was just as much bible bashing here as there was with the Jehovah's Witnesses ;) Haha- they were super friendly though and welcomed us back! We were able to leave them with a Book of Mormon. That evening I was able to put my biking skills into work and we helped a member change her tire on her bike! After that, we went to the church and taught Costa with our branch president. It was an awesome lesson and the spirit was super strong. We found out that the day we contacted Costa, he had prayed for the first time in a very long time. "Ask and ye shall receive."

On Sunday I gave a talk in church. I spoke about the happiness we can receive by applying the basic principles of the gospel... Faith, Repentance, Baptism/Sacrament, the Holy Ghost, and Enduring to the end. To me, these basic principles are a huge source of happiness in the gospel.

I love you all! Have a great week!!

"See you at Church!"

Hej Allihoppa!!

This week has been awesome and we have seen miracles all around us. The Lord has really been moving the work forward here in Linköping.

On Tuesday we met with an investigator who the missionaries had met with before, but had lost contact with during the Christmas season. Her name is Joanna and she is from a part member family. She is 14 years old. We taught her about the basic principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and she accepted to be baptized on the 14th of Feb. She has been kind of up and down since, but we are praying that she will be ready by this date. We also taught Hampus this past week. That kid just amazes me more and more every time we meet him. He participates with seminary over skype early every morning before school. He is also reading the Book of Mormon every day still and he is being a missionary and taking friends with him to Church. I cannot tell you how impressed I am with Hampus. We are also teaching Merci. She is doing well and is progressing a little more week by week. Elder Aabo and I made her a prayer rock to help her remember to pray. She has a strong testimony of the Church, we are just helping her overcome trials and things in her life right now, so she can be ready for baptism.

On Friday we took a train to Södertälje for a zone training there. I learned something there that I think is AWESOME that we all can apply. A missionary said, "When the Spirit speaks to us, it is a personal commandment from God to us of what we should do." This is so true! When we feel the Spirit we need to ACT on it's promptings and do all we can, and then let Heavenly Father help take it's role.

On Saturday we went out to Kisa and helped the Kindestam family, a family in the branch with renovations on their house. We helped put up some new wallpaper and did some other work around the house. It felt good to do some service!

Sunday was awesome. Weeks ago we contacted this guy named Costa on the street. We showed him the "He is the Gift" video, while he was standing outside smoking. We had tried to meet with him after, but had no success because he has been busy with school and work. And then yesterday morning he just randomly texted us and said, "See you at Church!" It caught us by surprise. He showed up and felt the Spirit. He said after we contacted him he felt like he should quit smoking and hasn't smoked since. I know that the Lord prepares and helps people in ways that we don't always see.

It is really cool to see the work move forward. I am glad I have been a tool of the Lord along the way.

I love you all and I am grateful for Everything you do for me.

Hampus' Testimony

Hey guys,

Well we are getting back into things as the holidays are over and it feels really good! I wanted to say thanks to everyone who went out of their way to send me letters/packages. I was definitely spoiled with everything.

So this past week has been really good. We have been going by a lot of in-active members and then have been trying to tract around them as well-so we are finding at the same time. We have found great success! We have gotten in with some members as well we have found some new potential investigators.

Earlier this week I was studying in Preach My Gospel, and in a specific section it says to always testify of the restoration of the gospel when finding. I realize that I haven't been doing this enough... that I usually invite people to learn more about our website or talk about their beliefs or even talk about other branches of the gospel. It hit me when I was studying... the restoration is what sets us apart from other churches. So all week I have been using nothing but the blue book and bearing testimony of it... and guess what? We have seen so much success finding people!!! Nothing is more powerful than just saying, "I know this is true."  Because you cannot really argue that. And when people see the sincerity they are much more willing to except it!!

Another cool thing that happened this week is we got a set baptismal date with Hampus!! October 5th, his 18th birthday :) We have to wait until this date because he is not 18 and his parents aren't willing to sign for him. That kid seriously is such a chosen person. He is so Christlike and has such a strong testimony. He wrote his testimony and sent it to me yesterday. Mom, I got permission from him to share it, so you can put it on the blog if you would like. It is such a strong testimony.

Well, other things going on... We are teaching Merci still. She has a strong testimony of the church. We are just working on getting her closer and closer to being ready to be baptized. The spirit is always super strong when we teach her!!

On Saturday we went to African night. It was super fun, like always!! And we ate some REALLY good African food after. I am loving it out here! I love you guys. Have a great week.

Hampus' Testimony:

Mitt vittnesbörd för Jesu Kristi Kyrka Av Sista Dagars Heliga

Hej!

Well, its been a while!

God Jul och Gott Nytt år!!!!

It seems like it has been forever since I have written one of these. So I will try and summarize my holidays in a nutshell. It has been wonderful to be here in Sweden during this special time.

One of the exciting things that happened during the Christmas season was we had our Christmas conference in Stockholm. It was really fun and a wonderful experience. As you can imagine, they talked a lot about Christmas and the meaning of Christmas. They talked about how we as missionaries have the opportunity to do 3 basic things during the Christmas season. We get to discover, embrace, and share the gift of Jesus Christ. We discover Him by reading the scriptures and the words of prophets and apostles. We embrace Him by applying those teachings and striving to follow Jesus Christ. And finally we all have the opportunity to share and invite others to discover and embrace the gift of the Savior. This is something I invite everyone to do, not just during Christmas. It really brings a new brightness into our lives as we apply these 3 principles. We also did a lot of fun things at the conference. We ate and each district prepared a short Christmas skit. Ours was "Home Alone," but with a missionary of course.

So during Christmas time almost all of the members in our branch were out of town so we were not at any members houses. But the Sunday before Christmas the branch president and his wife had us over for dinner. We ate and then after played some games. It was a lot of fun and they took good care of us for our little "pre-Christmas" party.

On Christmas we just kind of hung out. Not a lot was open so we just kind of walked around the city and then hung out in the apartment. We opened our presents on Christmas Eve, since that's how they do it in Sweden! The obvious highlight of Christmas was skyping home. It was so good to talk to my family. I love and miss them so much!!

Okay, so today New Years was a blast!! We went over to one of the other guys investigators named Mahin. She lives in the same apartment complex as a member named Annalie, so she was also there. Mahin made us SO much food. I don't think I have ever been so full in my life. We played some games and then at midnight walked outside by the canal, where everyone was shooting off fireworks. It was really fun and exciting!!

It is a new year with a lot of new goals and ambitions put forth. I hope we can all  have a great year as we strive to become better people and better followers of Jesus Christ. I love you all!!
